Members of the Onion family, Shallots have a slightly more delicate flavour than their larger relatives. Peeled and chopped finely, they can be used to add extra depth to dressings and sauces – they’re also delicious oven-roast in their skins.

In general, Shallots can be cooked in the same ways as Onions, though it is worth noting that their lower water content may cause them to burn if cooked for too long or at too high a temperature.

Shallots should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place.
