Our Fishing Fleet - Fishing Boat Names
The Greendale fishing fleet is more than just a collection of boats; it’s a symbol of our dedication to fishing and our local community. And, just as each boat serves a unique purpose, so each one of them also has a name that tells its own story.
At Greendale, fishing is more than a tradition; it’s a passion that has been honed over decades. We began in the 1960s with a small, five-metre beach boat. Since then, we've expanded our fleet and our fishing expertise, growing into one of the largest fishing operations in the South West of England. Today, the Greendale fishing fleet comprises over 20 vessels, each carrying a rich history and a carefully chosen name.
A Tradition Anchored in Ladram Bay
Here in East Devon, Ladram Bay offers direct access to the fertile waters of Lyme Bay, a hotspot for diverse marine life. For generations, we've been connected to this beautiful stretch of coastline, working tirelessly to perfect our fishing methods, with over 35 boats bought, worked and sold over the years. That's why you'll see 'of Ladram' in the names of all our vessels, regardless of their home port.
In addition to the Ladram reference, we've chosen to name many of our vessels after family members, colleagues and close friends, honouring those who've played an important role in our lives.
