Basic Tomato Pizza Topping

Use this easy recipe as a starting point for your own ‘bespoke’ tomato topping, perhaps adding chunkier tomatoes, more garlic or different herbs according to your taste. Makes enough to top one quantity of our Simple Pizza Dough (serves 2).

Ingredients

75g Passata (if you can’t get passata, try blending or crushing a drained tin of plum tomatoes)
¼ tsp Dried Oregano or Thyme
1 large clove of Garlic, peeled
Ground Black Pepper, to taste

Method
Tip the passata into a mixing bowl, then crush in the garlic, add the oregano or thyme and as much or as little black pepper as you like. Stir to combine, then spread evenly over your prepared pizza base, leaving a little space around the edges.
