Local Superfood
Very rich in beneficial omega-3 fatty acids, Mackerel is fast earning ‘superfood’ status. It is easily identified by its beautiful iridescent blue-green/black stripe patterning. Mackerel can be grilled on the barbecue, or grilled, pan-fried or oven-baked. It’s usually accompanied by sharp, light flavours – think gooseberry sauce – as these balance the rich, oily meat perfectly.
