Fowles Wines, one of Australia’s top cool-climate producers, is a small estate led by Matt Fowles in Victoria’s Strathbogie Ranges. With 360 acres of vineyards, including Upton Run and Billi’s, Fowles benefits from a cool climate and decomposed granite soils, producing well-balanced, structured wines. The vineyards experience diurnal temperatures, with warm days and cool nights that allow grapes to ripen naturally. The winery, located atop a hill with panoramic views, crafts wines innovatively, using over 1000 barrels, some of which are over 100 years old, to preserve the original character of the fruits. (Please note - every effort is taken to ensure the vintage displayed is the vintage supplied, but due to constantly refreshed stock the vintage supplied may vary).

The fruit for this wine was picked in April 2021 using a selective harvester. The juice was fermented using wild yeasts and carefully selected cultures which promote fruit and spice characters. For 12 – 18 months, parcels of this wine were matured with new French and American oak to provide complexity and contribute lovely vanillin notes. A dash of Cabernet Sauvignon was added to the final blend to provide a black cherry perfume lift and further structure on the palate.
